Oatmeal with grated apple. Oatmeal with apple and cinnamon

Oatmeal differs from others in that it is not prepared from "stripped" and polished grains, as is done with buckwheat, rice or millet, but from whole grains, from which the coarse husks are simply removed and pressed so that they boil faster. In other cereals, due to pre-processing and removal of the shell and embryos, much less useful dietary fiber remains, but there is a lot of starch, while in oatmeal, useful substances are retained.

Now a lot of cereals have appeared on sale fast food based on oat flakes. Their main difference from ordinary cereals is thinner flakes that can be eaten by simply pouring boiled water. But the thinner the flakes, the faster starch is released from them, which turns into sugar, and then into fat. This option is not suitable for those who follow their figure, and even pieces of fruits and berries, which are bait in such cereals, should not confuse you. After all, there are not so many of them there, and it is not they who give a rich fruit taste, but artificial flavors and additives. Therefore, it is better to learn how to cook delicious oatmeal yourself. And everyone can add fresh or frozen berries to it.

This article discusses only a small fraction of the possibilities that open up before you if the house has oat flakes and apples. In order for the porridge to come out not only edible, but also tasty, you should know some of the nuances of its preparation.

There are no special tricks here. The process of making porridge is so elementary that it can be entrusted to even a younger student.

The benefits of oatmeal

It is enough to look at the British, full of health, to understand: this porridge is worth eating, and more often. After all, oatmeal expels the spleen that the weather of Foggy Albion brings back.

In addition to improving the emotional state, flakes stimulate the brain, remove excess salt and bad cholesterol. Porridge improves bowel function, protects the gastric mucosa, removes toxins. Anyone who wants to lose weight should eat oatmeal more often.

But do not forget about the dangers of such porridge. The flakes flush out useful calcium from the body. Therefore, a special diet has been developed: oatmeal + cottage cheese + apples. A fermented milk product saturates the body with calcium, flakes normalize the intestines, and fruits give vitamins.

Oatmeal is good for both children and seniors with delicate stomachs. Such porridge is well absorbed by the body.

Food for those who really want to lose weight

Maybe oatmeal with apples on the water is not the best tasty option, but certainly the most low-calorie. Let's start with the fruit.

  1. Wash one large or two small apples, cut into thin slices, simultaneously pulling out the seeds and fruit pods.
  2. Pour half a liter of water into a saucepan. We put on fire.
  3. When the liquid boils, add a pinch of salt and half a glass of oatmeal.
  4. Stir and reduce the heat a little. Let's wait until it boils again.
  5. Cook for 20 minutes (regular flakes) or five - instant Hercules.
  6. When the porridge is soft, pour the apples into the saucepan. Some people like the crunch of fresh fruit in oatmeal. In this case, turn off the fire immediately. Do you want the apples to boil and become soft, like in compote? Then let the porridge cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  7. After turning off the heat, wrap the saucepan with a towel. After ten minutes, put the porridge on the plates. It is permissible to add a teaspoon of honey as a sweetener.

Oatmeal with apples on water and milk

If you are not a fan of weight loss, then you can afford a slight indulgence in your diet. Milk will add some calories to the dish, but it will also eliminate the harmful side effect of oatmeal - the leaching of calcium from the body.

The cooking process of such porridge is somewhat different from the previous one. Pour half a glass of oatmeal, a tablespoon of sugar and a pinch of salt into a saucepan. Put a small piece of butter on top.

Fill with 400 milliliters of water. We put the dishes on a small fire. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the flakes have absorbed all the liquid. Slowly dilute the porridge with milk to the desired thickness. Let's fill up the prepared apples.

Another way to cook porridge

There are a lot of recipes for oatmeal with apple in milk. The easiest way is similar to cooking semolina. That is, you bring the milk to a boil while stirring. Here you need to be on the lookout so that it does not "run away".

After boiling, we make the flame to a minimum and pour the oatmeal into a saucepan. Knead thoroughly so that no lumps remain. Add sugar and salt. At this stage, we stir the porridge almost continuously, trying not to burn it.

Milk contacts apples poorly. Therefore, if you want to achieve softness of the fruit, fry them in a pan. But if you like crunchy apples in porridge, add them right away.

Stir and cook for about five minutes. Do not rush to put the porridge on the plates. Let her rest in a lidded saucepan. Remember that sweet milk tends to burn. Therefore, we put the minimum amount of sugar. You can sweeten the porridge to taste already on the plate.

Oatmeal with spices

It is known that apples harmonize wonderfully with cinnamon. This duo is often the basis of many desserts, especially Christmas ones. To make the apple cinnamon oatmeal, you can use both water and milk, or a mixture of both liquids in different proportions. Consider the last option for such a porridge.

  1. We put water (170 milliliters) on the stove.
  2. Simultaneously boil 160 ml of milk in another saucepan.
  3. Wash the apples, cut them into small cubes. You can peel them, but this way you will remove many useful substances along with the peel.
  4. Pour oatmeal (40 grams) into boiling water. We immediately pour hot milk there.
  5. Mix a spoonful of sugar with a pinch of ground cinnamon. Let's introduce it into the porridge. Let's not forget to salt.
  6. Add apples at the very end of cooking. It should be said that one should not be limited to cinnamon. You can add all those spices that are traditionally used to make mulled wine.

Cold porridge on kefir without cooking

Oatmeal is known to swell and soften in any liquid. Even if you do not boil these grains, they will still become edible. Another thing is that it will take more time.

Indeed, from boiling water, and even more from cooking, the process of swelling of the flakes is accelerated. Three products - kefir, oatmeal, apple - are included in many diets.

You can, of course, use them separately. That is, in the morning, eat water, eat an apple for lunch, and drink a glass of kefir before going to bed. But life will seem more pleasant if you combine all three components in one porridge.

To do this, pour half a glass of flakes with kefir (about 300 milliliters) and leave it overnight at room temperature. In the morning, add a shabby apple, a pinch of salt, honey. A similar porridge can be made with other fermented milk products - yogurt or fermented baked milk.

Can you make cottage cheese and apples?

We have already mentioned that cereals should be combined with foods that contain calcium. Most of this substance contains cottage cheese. But is it possible to make porridge with him? Certainly!

Put the cottage cheese into portioned bowls. Better to take a farm, fatty, tender, not very sour. Add instant Hercules at a rate of one to two. Fill with boiling water so that the water covers the flakes. We cover the bowls so that their contents are thoroughly steamed.

In the meantime, you can tackle the apples. You can take one small fruit per serving of porridge. Cut the apple pulp into small cubes or three. When the flakes are swollen, add fruits to the porridge, sprinkle with cinnamon and powdered sugar, mix and enjoy a delicious and healthy dessert.

Porridge with fruit

Just like cinnamon can be supplemented with cardamom, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, apples shouldn't be the only ingredients in oatmeal. They can be combined with other fruits. Here are some ideas for how you can enrich and enhance the flavor of your oatmeal with apple:

  • banana,
  • raisin,
  • dates,
  • figs,
  • peaches,
  • apricots,
  • fresh grapes,
  • any sweet berries,
  • dried apricots,
  • prunes,
  • pear,
  • nuts.

It should be remembered that dried fruits must be soaked in hot water until they swell. If you put sweet fruits (dates, for example) into the porridge, then you should not add sugar or honey.

All fruits should be finely chopped. By the way, the apples themselves can be baked separately in the oven. Then they are added to the finished porridge.
